Pure Power Mouthguard

The Pure Power Mouthguard is a neuromuscular-based mouthpiece that is registered at a position of physiologic rest. The mouth guard keeps the muscles of the head, neck and upper back relaxed. The results are better balance, strength, endurance, and range of motion. When the muscles of the head, neck, and upper back are in a physiologic rest position, stored muscle tension will be released immediately, deeper muscle recruitment will be promoted, and muscle alignment and balance will be improved.

The brain spends half of its energy on head, neck and jaw position. By finding the ideal jaw position, and locking it in place with a precision fitted mouth guard, strength is released to the rest of the body because the brain can focus more on core muscles. Also, endurance improves because the airway opens up and allows for better circulation and oxygen flow.

This is more than just a mouth guard. Backed by 40 years of Neuromuscular Dentistry research, it is a custom mouthpiece that requires measurement of EMG’s and jaw trajectory to get a relaxed neuromuscular position. A regular mouth guard is made of a material that is heated up and then the teeth are squeezed into it. This material is not very durable or comfortable. That is why you see many athletes chewing on the guard and taking it out all the time. The traditional 'boil and bite' mouth guard can actually hinder an athlete's performance because it's pushing the jaw into even more of an uncomfortable position than it already is. Traditional mouth guards made by a dentist are arbitrarily positioned, and the plastic that they are made of simply buffer the teeth.

To fit athletes with the Pure Power Mouthguard, specialized computerized equipment is used to find the most comfortable position for the patient's jaw. Using ultra low frequency TENS (transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation) the musculature of the head, face, and neck is relaxed providing the optimal position for improved performance. The athlete is then hooked up to a computer to analyze EMG’s and jaw trajectory to determine the position for the strongest bite. That bite is then the position the Pure Power Mouthguard is made to.
