What causes TMD?



TMD is a common and painful condition of the jaw and surrounding facial muscles originating with the Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ). This joint connects your lower jaw to the temporal bone of your skull and controls jaw movement, talking, chewing and yawning. When problems with this joint occur, the result is TMD, a condition that can become quite painful if left untreated.
